Enrollment applications for the 2026-2027 school year are now available in the office and on our website. To access the application online, please visit www.valentineaz.net and click on Open Enrollment in the navigation bar. Click the link to the Enrollment Packet, and a PDF should pop up which you can print and complete.
ALL RETURNING AND NEW STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED
TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE ENROLLMENT APPLICATION EACH YEAR.
The entire enrollment application packet must be completed and brought to the office by the enrolling custodial parent/guardian. Make sure all required signatures are completed and all supporting documentation is brought with you for residency verification. Every enrollment packet must be brought to the office in-person to complete verifications and copies of identification and documents. Applications that are faxed or emailed will not be accepted.
If your residence is outside the Valentine Elementary School District 22 attendance boundaries, you must complete the Attendance Exception Form and include a letter stating why you want your student to attend Valentine Elementary School.
Your student’s AM Bus Stop and PM Bus Stop must be filled in on page 4 of 4 on the Application for Enrollment Form and on the separate Transportation Form. A tentative bus stop schedule for the 2026-2027 school year has been included in this packet. Unless there is a documented family emergency, the bus stops for AM and PM that you indicate on this form will be your student’s permanent pick up/drop off locations for the entire school year. To change pick up/drop off locations, you will be required to complete a Bus Stop Change Request Form one day prior to the date you want the change to take place. Bus Stop Change Request Forms are available online and in the school office.
The Home Language Survey must be completed in its entirety. Do not write down other languages than English if your student does not use the other language fluently on a daily basis at home and at school. AZELLA testing for English proficiency must be done throughout the year, and your student will have to prove they are proficient in English when other languages are submitted on this form.
The Arizona Residency Documentation Form must be brought into the office with the required supporting residency documents and your identification documents. If you are not listed on a rental agreement or mortgage, are sharing living spaces, or are in a temporary housing arrangement with another person/family, you must complete the Affidavit of Shared Residence because you do not have residency documentation for renting or owning your house/apartment. The Affidavit of Shared Residence must be signed by a Notary Public. You may use your own Notary Public, or you can bring the documents to the school where we have a Notary Public. The Arizona Student Residency Questionnaire must also be completed with current information as part of the enrollment process.
Medical history, medication consent forms, and the Medical Statement for Students with Special Dietary Accommodations must also be completed and signed. If your student has a food allergy, a physician must complete the Medical Statement for Students with Special Dietary Accommodations.
Copies of your student’s state certified birth certificate, immunizations, and any Special Education/IEP/504/AZELLA Records (if your child is not a current student) must be provided with your application. Any applicable court documents regarding custody or contact restrictions must be updated and submitted with your application. This year we must also have a copy of the student’s Tribal Enrollment Card and/or Certificate of Indian Blood if applicable.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE RETURNED AND NOT CONSIDERED
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST HAVE THE CURRENT CONTACT EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER FOR EACH PARENT/GUARDIAN, AS WELL AS AT LEAST TWO EMERGENCY CONTACTS WITH CURRENT EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBERS ON FILE. ALL CONTACT INFORMATION MUST BE KEPT CURRENT. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENT/GUARDIAN TO KEEP ALL CONTACT AND EMERGENCY INFORMATION UP-TO-DATE AT ALL TIMES.
A completed enrollment application does not guarantee acceptance or admission to Valentine Elementary School. Acceptance letters will be sent out during the week of June 22 – 26, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.

National ESEA Distinguished School Award Presentation and Celebration
Valentine Elementary School has been named a National ESEA Distinguished School for the 2025-2026 school year. The students, staff, school, and community celebrated this honorable designation with an award presentation on Thursday, April 16th. Dr. Zenneah Jenkins and Dr. Joseph Cole, representatives from the Arizona Department of Education, presented Mr. Angle, Valentine Elementary School Superintendent, with a certificate of award and a $10,000 check. Mr. John Warren, Mohave County School Superintendent, Mr. Travis Lingenfelter, Mohave County Supervisor for District 1, and Juanita Tabor, School Board President, congratulated the students, families, and staff in recognition of the outstanding work that all stakeholders at Valentine Elementary School have committed to in earning this prestigious award.
Valentine Elementary School is located northern Arizona and is committed to providing outstanding academic opportunities and experiences for all students. The implementation of the House System created a tremendous impact on student attendance, participation, and academic growth. The House System is a program developed by Ron Clark Academy which is based on student leadership and teamwork. This strategy enabled Valentine Elementary School to join dozens of schools who reported in a July 2025 survey that they had reaped the benefits of a reduction in discipline referrals and increases in attendance and family involvement. Our school climate and culture improved, as did staff morale and engagement with students, with the end result being increased academic achievement.
The National ESEA Distinguished Schools program, a project of the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators (NAESPA), publicly recognizes federally funded schools for outstanding academic achievement and positive educational advances. Each state selects up to two schools annually that show exceptional student performance, or improved outcomes for special populations.
Key Aspects of the Program:
• Selection Criteria: Schools must have a poverty rate of at least 35% and demonstrate high academic growth or achievement.
• Recognition: Selected schools receive a commemorative award, a feature on the ESEA Network website, and recognition at the national conference.
• Categories of Excellence: Recognized schools often fall into categories including exceptional student performance, closing the achievement gap, or excellence in serving special populations.
